First full band run of the year was amazing. New stage, new set, new lights… new energy. Man, it never ceases to amaze me how much energy fans in New England can bring. Fun times. Now, some well deserved rest time to catch up with friends, family, and creative projects that have waited for their turn. Next stop Australia…. yikes. What a year, so far. Come check out the show. Even if you’ve seen Phil before, you’ve never seen a show like this. Never the same twice….
Intern Ted here, first off if you haven’t been checking out our videos I highly recommend that you check them out. If you scroll down you can see them all, we have one from London, Dublin and Belfast as well as some live songs. Glasgow is coming soon. Its been a lot of work but I am really proud of how they came out so check them out and tell me what you think.
Currently we are in Untermietingen, Germany which as Fitz said below is the first place we have been that they don’t speak English. It’s been interesting to say the least but we’ve had some great people helping us out. Someone on twitter told us to use a certain phrase to greet people while we are in Bavaria, but not to use said phrase while we are in the cities of Germany otherwise we’ll sound like hicks. I guess that means we are in the country! Beautiful place though, its snowing here and we’re playing at this very cool “American” bar.
We left Scotland the other day after playing an awesome show in Glasgow. First, the scottish country side is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. We we’re all glued to the windows on our way to the venue. The Glasgow crowd was amazing and were loving Phil and the guys. They even sang me happy birthday..sorry guys, Phil was joking, wasn’t really my birthday but I did love the song and the out pouring of love.
After the show we drove to London to catch our flight to Munich. We had to say goodbye to our bus and our lovely driver, Mike there. Mike gave me a hard time for calling the bus “goofy” in a recent post. Let me clarify…the bus was awesome, when I said goofy, I meant different. It was very different from the buses in the states but it was equally as awesome. My and J-Dawgs favorite part was how they had windows in your bunks. It was awesome, as you were falling asleep you could look out and see everything you were driving by, which while you are in Europe is hard to take your eyes off of. Jeff and I are thinking about cutting windows in our bunks int he states…we’ll see how that turns out.
Been a crazy adventure so far, definitely eye-opening. The fans are loving Phil over here which was been a treat to see. Thanks to everyone who has come out to the shows and thanks to all of you back home who have been watching the videos. Keep it up and make sure to check out GACtv.com for their coverage as well.
So we’ve finally hit point where language becomes a bit of a difficult situation. Throughout the trip we’ve been lucky enough that most people speak English. Sure, it might be different accents, and their selection of phrases take some getting used to, but in the end it’s English. So, a little concentration and the patience is all you need to get the general idea.
Now, though, things are different. So far the handful of Germans we’ve interacted with have a grasp of our language, but it’s almost deceiving. Because they say something to you in decent English, you feel like you can speak back to them. So, when I respond in my normal pace of language I’m left only with the dreaded stare. You know the one…. blank eyes…. smile…. the “what just happened?” look. Yeah….. Hmmmm….. It’ll be interesting, though, because the radio stations all seem to focus on our music. Then the DJ comes on and you realize you’re completely lost. So, I’ll be interested to see if, even though the crowd sings along, will the understand the banter in between?
Everyone say hi to Intern Andy. We’ve decided that Ted deserves a promotion for his hard work and dedication to the team. Andy just hasn’t shown that yet…. So, much like a quarterback that underperforms gets benched, we’re starting a movement to change some titles around here. Intern Andy, meet slightly better than average Ted. Sorry this had to happen online. Perhaps someday you can work your way back up the depth chart, but chastising the coach (J Dawg) won’t help. The decision is final.
Greetings from Europe. You’d love it. It’s beautiful.
Intern Ted here, Just arrived in Belfast! Had a great time in Dublin. Phil was on a radio show, answering some questions and playing some songs. Here it is below for you to enjoy!
